Cute, silly and brutally honest!

What is it with boys and potty talk?

Hi mommy poopie pants

Hi mommy poopie pants

Have you ever met a 5 year old boy who doesn’t giggle, snicker, repeat or constantly talk about all things potty related? Get two of them together and all they want to talk about is Poopie pant’s, and Farty butts.

I have a real hard time with this because something about it seems so cute and innocent that I can’t help but snicker myself and trying to keep a straight face while telling them it’s terribly inappropriate is like impossible for me.

My new name is “Mommy poopie pants” by the way. My son has gotten into the habit of using this beloved phrase after everything he say’s like:

Hi Mommy poopie pants, ok mommy poopie pants, let’s go play football mommy poopie pants or what are we having for lunch mommy poopie pants?

It’s so inappropriate but I also know that when he uses these phrases it means he’s happy. He loves to laugh and giggle.

He was sick recently and I didn’t hear anything about poop, pee pee or farts for DAYS. It was awful! I thought. We knew he was feeling better when I asked him if his tummy felt better and he said, “A little mommy poopie pant’s”. Oh! It was music to my ears I tell you!

My three year old is killing me with the potty language. It is never ending. Of course then when I ask him a valid question about if he has to pee or poop, he immediately informs me that I have used a potty word and I’m getting an X on the behavior chart!

I’m with you though, sometimes it is just too hard not to laugh at them! =)

  • Very cute and will say having girls the potty talk is a bit less, but we still get some, especially when they fart. I hear from my younger “excuse me, I farted!!”. Yup, got to love their candid approach :)

Trust me, it’s not just boys that find this hilarious. My 9 year old girly girl daughter downloaded a farting sound app and has been having a blast letting people think she is letting them rip at the most inappropriate times!

I have the hardest time with the potty thing. I grew up in a house where we had tons of fun and lots of laughs but none were potty jokes. There was no farting or fart sounds or fart jokes. Well, there was farting, but everyone pretended it never happened. Fast forward to a house with 2 boys and a husband. My life is one giant fart and no one is going to pretend it didnt’ happen. I get that it’s funny to them- and even me sometimes. But everytime? Really? It’s funny every freaking time? I also want to know what these kids’ mom is feeding them;)

  • It doesn’t get any better… my 16 year old and my 38 year old are still bad about the potty humor… and the 10 year old is following suit. :) (For the record, one day I tried to be like them and make a comment involving poop. I was told it wasn’t funny when I did it.)

You are so right about boys! I have 2 that are now teenagers (it gets worse — gasp!) and they are NOT socially acceptable!
I found you through the Aloha Friday Blog Hop and so glad I did! Now I’ve added to your Thursday hop as well! So happy to be your follower!

This made me laugh, because I have been there! I had a hard time with this (and still do) because I grew up in a house with sisters and we did not joke about those things. There was no potty humor and to this day I hate it.
My husband grew up in a raucous house with brothers and by the time his younger sister came along, they made sure she was in on the jokes right along with them.
Now we have 2 boys. They are 8 & 9 and OMG does it get worse! Everyone tells me it is normal & healthy. I guess there is no way to stop it so I am trying to teach them about time & place, not to mention audience! I must admit, there are times when I’ll overhear them with friends and I do laugh to myself. I’ll still never join them though!

I truly believe that laughter is the best medicine. I'm fortunate enough to be surrounded by individuals that not only provide me with a dose of this medicine daily but also provide me with a significant amount of material for this blog. I am a mom, and a wife with ADHD. I have a son with Autism, a son with an auto inflammatory syndrome, and a husband who is the only person I know who can give me an abdominal workout just from laughing so hard. Put us all together and there's bound to be some interesting things to talk about! I love to laugh. I love to make people laugh. I blog about things that make me laugh not necessarily what makes others laugh and that's okay. As long as I am cracking up while writing, that's all that matters!
